Styling up for a fancy occasion is not any brain teaser. But when it comes to dressing up for workspace, even the best of us sometimes feel overwhelmed. If you have been through it, we heard you. Today, we will take a look at some of the style tips that can turn your game for work.
We know you are the most comfortable in a t-shirt and jeans. But ill-fitting clothes will only make you look sloppy. That’s why you should wear a dress that is well fitted. Shirt tucked in formal pants - that’s what we are talking about.
You are a person of colours - we get that. You love to wear clothes that have multiple vibrant shades, and we are sure you look fabulous in those. However, it’s time to go back to classic black and white when it comes to dressing up for your workplace.
You can also experiment with other shades like blue, green, purple etc. but try to tone it down. Excessive colours, threadworks, etc., don’t look formal.
Many often, we limit our dressing game to just clothes. However, fashion is a holistic thing - from your hair to the toes - everything should compliment your style.
Stick to formal shoes in grey or black colour. If you have an informal day at your office, you may try leather shoes in blue, maroon, and greens. Also, try to compliment your dress. A maroon shoe with a green shirt doesn’t look good. If you are not sure about picking the right pair of shoes, stick to the basics. No flip-flops, though!
If there’s one item that can instantly change your look from informal to formal, it’s the blazer. There are various shades available, including blue, black, maroon, cream, etc. Try to pick a shade that is in contrast with your shirt. For instance, a white shirt and a blue blazer completely rock but a green shirt with a maroon blazer is not the right combo for your workspace.
If you are not comfortable in wearing something ready-made and want to wear something well-fitted, invest in a tailored suit. It will fit you properly. However, make sure to keep at least one inch extra so that you don’t look like a stick!
If you have a sporting spirit, you can experiment with your trousers. Monochrome trousers are too mainstream. If you have a relaxing environment at your office, you can buy a pair of checked trousers. You can find different patterns in neutral colours like grey or black.
Go for a cool tone
If you are not sure which colour to pick, here’s a quick hack. Opt for cool tones like blue, grey, white, black, green etc.
Instead of warm tones like orange, red, etc., cool tone colours neutralise your look.
All the women out there - this is just for you. Opt for nude and subtle makeup instead of a heavy one.
