NATO soldiers maintain vigilance in Kosovo town, while Serb demonstrators vandalize two vehicles

As per Reuters report on May 30, 2023 - In a continuation of recent tensions, protesters in Kosovo's Leposavic town targeted and damaged two cars belonging to Albanian journalists on Tuesday. This incident follows clashes the previous day, where 30 NATO soldiers and 52 protesters sustained injuries. European Union (EU) and NATO officials have called for calm and urged a de-escalation of the violence.

The unrest in the region has been on the rise since ethnic Albanian mayors assumed office in the Serb-majority area of northern Kosovo after April elections that the Serbs boycotted. This move prompted strong criticism from the United States and its allies directed towards Pristina.
