Bhutan is a landlocked country in Eastern Himalayas in southAsia and is surrounded by the Tibet / china in the north and India in the west, south and east. Bhutan is the second least populous nation after the Maldives in this region. The capital of Bhutan is Thimphu. Thimphu is the largest city of the country. The financial centre is Phuntsholing. Bhutan is majorly a Buddhist country and remained in independence since centuries. It has not seen colonial rule in its history. The country has subtropical plains in the south and sub-alpine Himalayan mountains in the north. Gangkhar Puensum is Bhutan's highest peak and it is perhaps the highest mountain in the world which has not been climbed till now. There is diverse wildlife in the country. The happiness index of Bhutan is very high in the area. Bhutan has become a high-value destination. Although, there is no heritage site recognised by UNESCO currently, but applications for such recognition has been under evaluation by UNESCO. There are many sites in the country for tourist attractions. Mountain adventure trekking and hiking is one of the attractions in Bhutan.
